Top 10 Gym Pet Peeves (and How to Fix Them) | Re-Rack University

💢 Let’s Talk Gym Etiquette

Every gym has that guy — the one who forgets the basics. Maybe it’s the loud grunter, the mirror hog, or the weight-leaver.
At Re-Rack University, we’ve seen it all. And while we love the grind, we love respecting the grind even more.

Here are the Top 10 Gym Pet Peeves (and what to do instead).

1️⃣ Not Re-Racking Your Weights

The golden rule. You lifted it — now put it back. Nothing says “rookie” like walking away from loaded plates.
Fix it: Always re-rack your weights, dumbbells, and bars. Simple respect.

2️⃣ Hogging Equipment

You’re doing a 10-set superset across three machines? Cool story, bro. Others need those too.
Fix it: Limit your rest time and let others work in between sets.

3️⃣ Leaving Sweat Everywhere

Benches aren’t Slip ’N Slides.
Fix it: Keep a towel. Wipe it down after every set. Respect the equipment and the next lifter.

4️⃣ Filming in Everyone’s Way

We get it — you’re building your content. But blocking an entire rack with a tripod? Not it.
Fix it: Be aware of your surroundings. Film in low-traffic areas and stay respectful.

5️⃣ Loud Grunting (Like You’re Summoning Thor)

A little effort noise is fine — a war cry isn’t.
Fix it: Use controlled breathing and save the roars for PRs.

6️⃣ Curling in the Squat Rack

The squat rack is sacred ground. Use it for squats, not biceps.
Fix it: Curls belong at the dumbbell rack. Know your zone.

7️⃣ Ignoring Spot Requests

If someone asks for a spot, they trust you. Don’t scroll mid-rep.
Fix it: Stay alert, communicate, and assist with control.

8️⃣ Talking Too Much Between Sets

It’s a gym, not a coffee shop. We’re here to move weight, not waste time.
Fix it: Keep convos short. Let others stay focused.

9️⃣ Poor Hygiene

This one’s tough love — if you can smell yourself, others can too.
Fix it: Shower regularly, wash your gear, and wear deodorant.

🔟 No Respect for Space

Everyone’s trying to improve. Don’t mock, stare, or crowd.
Fix it: Give others room to lift and grow. The gym is a shared battlefield — not a stage.

🧠 The Re-Rack University Mindset

Gym etiquette isn’t about rules — it’s about respect. Respect for the space, the equipment, and the people working to better themselves.

Fix the pet peeves, set the example, and lead by action.
Re-rack your weights. Wipe your bench. Be the reason the gym runs smoother.
